![]() The Woodland Trail and Meadow Trails each offer a one-mile walk into a habitat for lovely birds including thewhite-breasted nuthatch,eastern bluebird and northern cardinal.Īround the mountain there are a wide variety of activities for the entire family, including rock-climbing walls, miniature golf and a 4-D theater. For example, the five-mile (eight-kilometer) Cherokee Trail winds through through the woods around the base of the mountain. There are 15 miles (24 kilometers) of walking trails around the park to suit a leisurely stroll or more strenuous day-hike. There are restrooms and a snack bar at the top of the mountain for a respite before heading back down. This trail is appropriate for most fitness levels, but can be slippery when wet. If you’re up for some exercise, take the one-mile (1.6-kilometer) hiking trail to the top of the mountain. This impressive Confederate Memorial Carving covers three acres on the side of the mountain. On the way, view larger-than-life carvings of three Civil War figures: Jefferson Davis, Robert Lee and Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson. Ride the high-speed cable car to the top. ![]() The granite mountain rises 1,686 feet (514 meters) above sea level. There are also restaurants, shops, two hotels and a campground.
